Did some googling and it looks like the 10.10 kernel should support USB3.0, so i'm guessing i need a diver for this card. I'm a bit of a rookie when it comes to specialty drivers, and honestly i'm surprised its not working -- ubuntu's always been great with any device i install. If anyone has any suggestions/tips on how to get this card to work, i'd love to hear about it! All my USB ports stopped working under Ubuntu, but worked under windows. I power cycled the system totally off, then on, all is well and all work fine now.

I don't know if it was related to the new card or not but whatever. The card works at USB 3. The Beatles Abbey Road Remastered Zip. 0 speeds under Win7 64bit (between 70 and 100MB/s to an external platter drive). Under Ubuntu it works at USB 2.0 speeds but slowly.

Using the motherboard's ports I get a solid 30MB/s from my 2.0 flash drives, from this card a solid 20MB/s. Chipdrive Driver Card Software Kostenlos here. It seems to be there is a driver issue with Ubuntu/Linux for this particular USB chipset. According to the diagram schematic on the VIA website, there are two controllers, a 3.0 for only 3.0 SS operation and then a standard 2.0 HS/FS/LS controller. I suspect that Ubuntu is only loading the driver for the 2.0 chip and totally ignoring the 3.0 chip.

Is there something like NDIS wrapper for other devices? I have one of these cards and see the same issue.
